The Project
The Yatala Brewery, is the site for the pre conference site visit. This recently refurbished venue is surrounded by one of Australia's largest breweries which hosts state of the art brewing and packaging technology (filling an amazing 1,100 bottles per minute!)
The brewery has won the Industrial Eco-Efficiency Award in the inaugural Queensland Environmental Protection Agency Sustainable Industries Awards for recycling and reducing water use at the brewery.
The brewery also has a microbial fuel cell that creates energy from brewery waste water. The experimental fuel cell uses bacteria to consume water-soluble brewing waste such as sugar, starch and alcohol, in the process producing clean electricity and water. The cell was developed by scientists at the University of Queensland, in cooperation with the Yatala team, and is expected to deliver power at the rate of two kilowatts
The visit will commence at 2.30pm at the Yatala Brewery. A complimentary coach will depart the Conrad Jupiter's Gold Coast at 2.00pm to take participants from conference hotel to the Brewery and return.(Approx. 5.00pm)
Places are limited, so please book early.
